Welcome
After two successful meetings at Porto and Coimbra, the Organic Chemistry Group/Chemistry Department, University of Aveiro has the pleasure to invite you to attend the 3rd Portuguese Meeting on Medicinal Chemistry to be held at the University of Aveiro on November 28-30, 2012; at the auditorium of the rectory. It is organized by the Medicinal Chemistry Group on behalf of the Portuguese Chemical Society (SPQ). The main aim of this biannual conference is to provide a platform to discuss recent advances in drug discovery and development, with special emphasis to the interfaces between Chemistry, Biology, Computational Biochemistry and Experimental Medicine.
Since the Portuguese community working in the scientific area of Medicinal Chemistry is not big, all the sub-areas, including interdisciplinary topics are welcome.
The 3rd National meeting on Medicinal Chemistry is an excellent opportunity to foster cross-fertilization among researchers from different areas in the interface with Medicinal Chemistry. Young researchers are particularly encouraged to participate and to communicate their work.
The official language of the meeting will be English.
The 3rd National meeting on Medicinal Chemistry will include in the last day (November 30, 2012) the 1st Portuguese-Spanish-Brazilian Meeting on Medicinal Chemistry. After some contacts with the Brazilian and Spanish Medicinal Chemists Colleagues we will try with this small meeting to start an ambitious join meeting involving the Iberian Countries and Brazil or even extend the meeting to other South America countries. This will be the starting point.
The 3rd National meeting on Medicinal Chemistry will also have a satellite meeting (to be held in the University of Aveiro, in November 25-27, 2012) on Natural Products and related Redox Catalysts: Basic Research and Applications. This is the final meeting of an European Project of the Marie Curie Programme (Grant agreement no.: 215009).
The Chairman
